Stena Line travel from Gothenburg to both Frederikshavn (Denmark) and Kiel (Germany). Excellent onboard facilities are available on all sailings and both ports of departure and arrival have basic catering amenities and passenger lounges.
All ferries take passengers and cars although larger vehicles may not be permitted on some services. DFDS Seaways go from Gothenburg to Newcastle via Kristiansand in Denmark.
The twenty-six hour journey is done once weekly by the fleet's mother ship (The Princess of Scandinavia).
Gothenburg to Frederikshavn
Stena Line sail from Gothenburg to Frederikshavn up to eight times daily in the summer months. There is also a fast-boat service three times daily in the summer, with a journey time of 2 hours. Ferries begin at 07:00 and stop running at 23:55. An excellent onboard service is provided, and all ferries accept both passengers and vehicles, although some services do not cater for lorries. Stena Line operates between Gothenburg and Kiel in northern Germany. The journey time is 13 hours and services depart once daily at 19:30, year-round, offering excellent onboard facilities such as a cinema and a large selection of restaurants and bars. The ferries accept both passengers and vehicles, although some services do not cater for lorries.
Gothenburg to Newcastle
DFDS Seaways' fastest vessel (Princess of Scandinavia) sets sail from Gothenburg harbour twice a week in summer and once a week at off-peak times, bound for Newcastle. The routing goes via Kristiansand in Denmark, where the ship stops, and the entire journey takes 26 hours. DFDS Seaways' fastest vessel (Princess of Scandinavia) sails the route, travelling at speeds of up to 26 knots. Summer departures are on Sundays and Wednesdays at 09:30.
Gothenburg to Newcastle
Kristiansand can be reached from Gothenburg by a DFDS Seaways' ferry service, either terminating at Kristiansand or going onwards to Newcastle. There are two services weekly in summer, on Sundays and Wednesdays at 09:30 on board the fleet's mother ship (Princess of Scandinavia), which boasts a top-deck swimming pool among its facilities.
